Useful phone tones

Our breath and our posture allows us to face what we need to in a systematic way.  Whether it be a big presentation, your golf swing, dealing with family matters or just  desire to feel better in our bodies, these two elements are tools towards a solution.  The breath allows the mind to be calm and go inward and the posture truly reconstructs a new definition of the self.
This is a recipe to walk with new feet, see with fresh eyes and experience life from the inside out.
We will be constructing  from the ground up a beautiful posture.  This awareness and tool can be used anywhere, anytime and without anyone knowing you are practicing it.
Practice Practice Practice ... is the way to make a change along with being aware of your body OFTEN during your day.  When I started practicing my own awareness of my body, I would set my phone alarm for 4x's during the day.  At 8am, noon, 4pm and lastly at 8pm, and each time it went off, I made sure I took 4 slow deep breaths and turned my focus inward.  It was a reminder to BE PRESENT.   So, if I was in the middle of something, it brought me back to making sure I was truly there and focused.  If it was a time when I wasn't engaged then it was a time for a mini meditation to go inside and take a pause.  Some tools feel more comfortable then others to each of us so if this seems do-able then give it a try.  I found it incredible powerful and now I naturally catch myself during my days, giving myself those pauses when I need them most.  This is a good start to being present more of your life then just by going through your days being robot-like an unaware that you are living.

and the Journey continues...
Much love & kindness coming to you from me.

Sonic toothbrushing is amazing!!!

Sonic toothbrushing is an amazing vibrational start to a day.
Since my last dental checkup when the hygienist recommended using a sonic  toothbrush, it has changed my world.  Seriously, you got to try one if you haven't already.  This one has a 2 minute timer and if you will take the time to focus on the sensations happening in the mouth and the teeth, it's a beautiful meditation.   We are all vibrating.  Every cell in our body and every living thing is vibrating.   Have you ever walked into a room and felt certain people that are just draining to be around then there are others that brighten you day?
There are many ways to raise your vibration or change your mood.   A positive affirmation and some tapping are one.  "The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body's energy system"  said Greg Craig,  founder of EFT
Check out this EFT site:     http://eft.mercola.com/
Another way is to use that sonic toothbrush twice a day and enjoy it.
Hope you are still doing your 4 mins. a day of conscious breathing and becoming aware of your feet and where they are headed.   Our next Grounding and Growing technique will show up soon.

Focusing on the breath

How's your journey goings so far?
Yesterday went for a magical swim in Lake Androscoggin which was a great relief from the heat.  I started focusing on my breathing and it took me to a very calm place in my mind.  What a true pleasure.
Finding a moment or two in the day where I can totally block out anything happening in the almighty mind, giving the mind permission to take a break and reassuring that mind that I will be fine on the break, is a gift and a skill that can be nurtured.   It takes a commitment to myself and starts simply with the breath.
Give it a try and would love to know how it's going.
Big hug and much love coming from me

Grounding & Growing

After a several week sabbatical from my blog, I am back with the new direction this blog will take for the remainder of the year.

Join me in a Grounding & Growing Journey.
Break down the barriers to knowing your true self, inside and out!!!

When we lose sight of ourselves an imbalance occurs.
Yoga allows for a way to balance the physical, spiritual, emotional & mental parts of what makes us who we are.  It is also an excellent engineering of the body to release tension.

Let's begin with tuning into this truly incredible body machine we have been gifted in this lifetime. No matter what the chatter already is going on inside your head,  "My body isn't..., if only I could..., why can't I..."  Blah blah blah ....
This is a process like taking a trip and we must realize it takes time to get from one place to another.
This journey is applicable with any scenario in life.  If you are standing at the 1st Tee at the beginning of a tournament or just your Sunday foursome, if you are starting your day at school, if you are facing an important presentation  at work, or if you are dealing with a health issue, all are applicable.  Doesn't matter what the scenario is, this journey is a way to tap into your most confident true self and face the occasion with kindness and clarity towards yourself.

(1st).   We must honor what is here to start our process.    Find a way to fit this into your daily routine so maybe as you stand in front of the mirror as you brush your teeth.   Have a timer there and for 2 extra minutes 2x's a day, give yourself the gift of plugging in, connecting with awareness of self.  Yes, this is a process... be patient and come take this journey into your being.
Stand with your eyes closed,  start becoming aware of how you are breathing.  Notice the cool air hit your nostrils as you inhale and the warmth you feel as the air leaves your nostrils.                                                                        IN & OUT ...  IN & OUT ...  IN & OUT...
~Choose to inhale, do not breath simply to exist~

YES

(2nd).  Start to become aware of your body.  How are your feet standing on the ground.  Inhale and as you exhale, drop your chin to your chest and look down.   Your feet are your grounding foundation as you are standing here. Which direction are they pointing?  Are they heading the same direction or is the right foot going somewhere different then the left?  Become your own personal observer.

“What wants to happen here now?”

Take the courageous challenge to do this for a week.
One week, 4 extra minutes a day!

And the journey begins ....
Check back next week to see what is next along the journey

Much love & kindness coming to you from me.

Ah ZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Ah   ZZZzzzzzzzzzz.

In our 26th week of the year we have arrived at "Z".
2011 from A-Z and it is those zzzzzzz's that so easily escape me, as I yawn!

There is a time for work. .... Where we should work hard!
There is a time for play .... Where we should play hard!
                                              &
There is a time for sleep .... Where we should sleep hard!

I have found when I prepare myself for sleep and then give myself permission to sleep for 7 hours, amazingly it helps.
So you insomnias out there, are you asking how do you prepare yourself?
First  start to slow activities and movements down.  I find it very difficult to be doing laundry or cleaning or dancing (unless it is a nice slow dance)
before  sleep.   Also, TV, computers, loud music and bright lights must go.
Try to be so sweet to self like you are preparing for your inner child's comfort.
Your mind needs to be told it is time for a rest so must not give it more to do.
Writing a list of whatever is in your "to do" mind will give it permission not to think and start resting.
Sometimes (who am I kidding) always, reading will put me to sleep but then you have to deal with taking the glasses off later, turning the light off and moving your open book that has already lost your page because it fell out of your hands ... then you are awake again!
Taking nice meditative breaths will calm the mind and allow the slumber to come.
Give so tenderly to your self with love.
Tomorrow is a new day to cherish so let's get some much deserved rest.
We have the rest of the year ahead of us full of postures, dances with our truths and  hopes of those glimpses of interconnectedness.

A sweet, yummy thought:
I put lemon basil in the pot & thyme in the garden!
