So sweet ... Windstar Tuesday 4 pm'ers!

So thrilled to have shared such a sweet class yesterday with those who attended.  We came together and found our own comfortable seated position making sure the connection with the sits bones was strong and our knees were below the hips for ease in the lower back and lots more.

The connections with the feet took a different appearance then previous classes.  Become aware of your posture and find a way to touch your feet daily.  We sat in dandasana  with one ankle crossing above our knee and proceeded to weave our fingers through each toe.  Inhaling our spines tall and belly expanding,  exhaling our belly buttons back towards our spine, emptying out all the air and tension that doesn't serve us well.  A discovery of many other movements connecting our reflex points of our feet revealed some areas that craved more balance ... Ouchy!   SO, play play play daily with your feet ...  Kiss them ( if you can) and love them.  Believe me, they will love you back!
More to come in 2012 about this!

Would you have ever imagined that sitting on a ball that fit right under your sits bones would ever make you feel so wonderful and grounded?  Rolling around each sits bone, one at a time helps to release the glutes and top of the hamstring insertion points. We continued down the back of the leg, ironing out the big muscles of the hamstring.  More ball work to be continued ...  Awe, feels sooo good!

The wall is a wonderful tool and support to use for many poses.  We used the wall to open up our shoulders and broaden the collarbone.  Stand facing the wall with the right arm perpendicular to the body at shoulder height. Place the palm facing up and pressing the outside pinky finger edge of the hand into the wall.  Slowly  start to rotate the body to the left by walking the feet in that circular direction.  The whole body will rotate except the shoulder.  This is a really intense stretch, an opening in the pectoral muscles and helps promote great posture.

Lastly, the focused breathing throughout the class really shows a beautiful calming and concentration.
It's wonderful to feel that life is already fantastic then more wonderful things happen to you ... That's Yoga!
Thank you all and see ya next time ...

A more supple spine for a healthier life.... For sure!

So wonderful to see recent returnees and new faces in class.
Once again we went back to learning and unlearning our bodies way of holding ourselves  and focusing on our alignment.  A body in good alignment is like a beautiful sunflower reaching high up towards the sun with its roots strongly grounding down in the soil.

Keeping our spines supple by daily practicing the 6 movements of the spine will aid in the longevity of a healthy life.  Empty coat sleeves has two of the six movements   Begin with your feet hip distance apart.  Start a shoulder movement rotation side to side (R-L) the ams begin to move as a result of it, hence like empty coat sleeves.   With a slight bend  and softness in the knees, continue to pick up speed allowing your floppy arms to slap around your body and your hips to start to rotate  as well.  Progress with inhales and forceful exhales through the mouth with or without a HA!  Lastly start to lift the heel as you twist the opposite direction with your upper body.  Rotation around your spine helps to bring oxygen to all the valuable connections in this part of the body which in turns filters out to every cell that makes up this amazing vehicle we are embodied in.

Sharing my passion for the moment.
When we care for ourselves it makes this world such a sweeter place to share.

May this week be filled with love and kindness!
Here's to a beautiful holiday.
Shanti
See ya next time ...

We danced like no one was watching ...

Breathe it all in .... Love it all out!
Take it all in & notice where it lands in your body.
Feel the sensation of the breath meeting your inner body.
Cultivate presences.

Monday nights journey was so peaceful and fulfilling.  Opening up with chakra sounds was an opening in more then one way  Not only did we explore the breath but we also explored the sensations of our bodies and muscles wrapping around balls. Starting at our feet where we grounded ourselves we continued incorporating deep awareness of our bodies all around the root and sacral chakras.  This night was one for stepping out and trying something new.  We danced like no one was watching.  How sweet it is!  Totally blissful.   Our last song was danced to real live drumming by Maurice.   Appreciation to those who shared the journey.
Hoping a very peaceful and loving holiday season to all!
See ya next time....

Take time to put your legs up the wall ... Today!

Monday's Men!

Awe as the holiday season is progressing, the travels and family visitors have added to a waning class.    For those that were in class and for those others that were not,  please remember to take time out daily for yourself,  your body and to calm your mind.  This can promote a more relaxing holiday time.  Find time to scooch up close to a wall, laying flat on your back with you buttocks as close to the wall as possible and legs going up the wall.   Bring your arms directly out from your shoulders allowing your shoulder blades to lay flat  on the ground and your collarbone to widen out .  Stay here as long as you desire taking slow deep breaths in and out through your nose.  Close your eyes and allow this posture to infuse your body and mind with totally peacefulness.
Have a beautiful holiday filled with blessings.
See ya next time ....

Becoming more consciously aware to be grounded while growing!

Tuesday's class was a time to infiltrate each movement with breathe and sustain it!  Hugging ourselves with muscular energy allows a grounding/rooting down which opens up a growing/rising up.   Giving space inside ourselves, in a side bend where we ground down in the left foot and leg  and bending to our right side feeling a rising from the top crest of the hip to the bottom floating rib all the way up to the armpit.   AHH.   Find those spaces and breath into them.
Becoming more consciously aware of our bodies is truly a gift for ourselves.
Thanks to you all!   Our token H and the 3 lovely J's.   Enjoy your week and see ya next time ....

Thank you my soul sistas!!!

Delayed Monday Men's ... Searching for wifi ...

Bill, Larry, Peter & Paul, thanks for your hard work and focus.
This week be observant of your posture and note your repetitive movements.

GaryDarcy -1

Today only half of GaryDarcy worked today. Hoping the other half is feeling better.  You were missed!

Jumped right into observation of movements, focus on the breath and  working the six movements of the spine.

The psoas was identified as a starting point for the deep ball journey.
With focus (much easier without laughing) we worked the ball deep from the hip inward and down then back up and over the crest of the hip around to the obliques and down the glutes to the sits bone.  Doing cross fiber movements was very effective working all the way down the hamstrings.  Slow, deep deliberate placements and slow controlled deep breathing made this class delicious in the releases it gave.

Keep up the awareness of transitional movements.   Explore ways to avoid the body having to give you that warning signal.   A slight bend in your knees or tuck of the tailbone may work at certain times.

Enjoy the season and see you next time on the 22nd at 3:30!
Hopefully we will be joined with  two lovely ladies.

Amazing women in the Tuesday class

This was an awesome class ... The energy started out a little low and rugged and throughout the class it slower changed to a very peaceful relaxing one.
I know there are many challenges we all have and you women are so brave to face them and work diligently to feel better about so much in your lives.
We welcomed Kim, our golf pro, into the class.  Her feedback was very much appreciated.
Ok, empty coat sleeves :
Starts with the shoulder movement.  Standing with your feet, outer hip distance apart, begin the coil around your spine from the shoulders. Arms should be totally limp, like empty coat sleeves.  They will only move after you start the shoulder  movement.  This is the first movement of the golf swing as well.  Take that calm breathe before you start the should turn. When you get going, the arms will slap around your body. You can then start to lift the opposite foot heel of the direction you are turning to get move rotation.
There was such beautiful focus on the breathe and giving more space in the body in a variety of ways.  From the feet to the sits bones.
We could have stay for hours in that energy
Thank you all for a fantastic class.
Be kind to yourselves
Til next time ...

Magical 1st Journey Dance last night!

There was an amazing energy floating around Oasis Parvaneh at Journey Dance last night.  Such a magical moment shared.     Thanks for exploring together and launching a journey to be continued, my sweet soul sista.  Please join us every Monday night and take a ride on the music and your own vibrations.
Much gratitude goes out to Cheryl.

Monday Men

So thrilled to see you all really settle into a nice focus.  Love new arrivals as its always a good reminder to re- view our postural alignment work.
Your Breathwork through the nose both on the inhale and exhale is a perfect environment to slow down.
Reminder ... Please keep doing the rolling onto the toes and back on the heels as you brush your teeth with the opposite hand from last time.   Mixing it up is so good for the brain.
While you stand or even when you stroll, hold your hands behind your back.  Counteract many hours of keeping your body in a rounded curling forward tendency.
Til next time ...

Come take an hour journey together.   No need to pack a bag or have any dance experience.    An open heart is the ticket!

We will be exploring how our body moves along with the sensations of the breathe.  Turning inward with gratitude for ourselves we can awaken the deepest levels of self-awareness.

We are a traveler possibly discovering unchartered territories.  Let the music reverberate within the body and feel what movement comes out. Feel free to explore or be gently guided by simple directions to  draw forth that which  is already within us!   This meditative connection creates an energy, a vibration that helps us unfold our true essence and feel fabulous.

Allow the music to be your guide to giggle, grow and become grounded as your feet kiss the beautiful bamboo floor of Oasis Parvaneh. Best danced on an empty stomach.

So come find freedom in your body, rejuvenation from your breath and give YOURself a gift of gratitude!

Garydarcy

First encounters ...  Welcome!
A true pleasure and gift to be together today.
Your openness to  explore something new was refreshing just like your full diaphragmatic slow breathing .

Starting with our feet, sweet feet ...  not to be forgotten.
(Thank you for standing up for me each day of my life)
Lift toes, spread wide placing the pinky down as you energetically place each toe down one at a time.   Place the big toe down and grip the ground ...
Really grip it ... Our standing foundation!

Start becoming more aware of the proprioception of your body.  What is your postural alignment like when your brush your teeth?   and throughout your
day. ..

A balancing challenge :
Brush your teeth with the opposite hand for a week.  Starting to unravel imbalances while you  take notice of your repetitive movements.

Nice rolling.  We travelled deep.
Reminder to come with an empty belly.   Give yourself at least one hour free of eating before  class.

Lots  to explore while listening to the wisdom of your own body.
Gratitudes  ... Until next time.

Thursday rockers!

This mighty group of guys today were rockin n' rollin!
You all were moving your spines and hips on the balls so rhythmic.  (some rolled more than others  :-).   It was quite a sight to behold.  Keep the ball rolling and stay loose.

Once again, it was very impressive how you all stuck with the challenges and are starting to balance yourselves out more.

Try the wall clock a few times this week.
Wall Clock:
With your back to the wall ...  heels, calves, buttocks, shoulder blades flat and head against the wall...
Arms at 7 and 5, palms facing out, back of hand brushing the wall ...
Then ... Breathe in ... Breath out ...
Arms at 9 and 3 ... Breath in ... Breath out...
Belly fills with the inhale ...  belly button exhales back to spine !
Arms at 11 and 2 ...  Go only as far as your alignment stays on the wall.

For better focus , work on breathing in and out through your nose.

Until next time ....

Tuesday women ... Open hearts and hands...

Our sweet little class was so wonderful with your heart openers and toe spreading.
Continue to be aware of softening between your shoulders and giving attention to your hands/ wrist too.
Being aware of your posture during the day is a great start to being present.
Until next time...
Namaste
